Jonathan was appointed Chief Executive Officer in July 2006 having previously been Finance Director since October 2002. He has held several positions with Avocet since joining the Company in 1994, including the position of General Manager of the Bishop facility in the USA.
Mike was appointed Finance Director in July 2007 having previously been Chief Financial Officer since February 2007. He worked for L.E.K. Consulting, a firm of strategic management consultants, before qualifying as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1993. He then held a number of senior financial and operational roles within Rio Tinto plc and Anglo American plc. He was CFO at two of Rio’s mines in the US and held the position of production manager at one of them, an open pit gold mining operation.
Eric is a mining engineer with management and technical experience in mining and process plant operations. He is an experienced expatriate professional for over 20 years, having worked in Namibia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Malaysia. He joined Avocet in 1997 as Mining Manager and was promoted to General Manager at Penjom and Avocet’s Country Manager for Malaysia in 2001. In July 2006 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer after a two year period as Regional Director, South East Asia.
Richard joined Avocet in June 2009 following the acquisition of Wega Mining. He has extensive international experience in both underground and open pit mine operations. He has had a successful career in developing mining companies, including 15 years working in South Africa for Gencor Ltd, and 10 years in West Africa for Golden Star Resources Ltd. In addition to operations roles including VP and General Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Director Operations, he also has various business and project development experience including activities in the Dominican Republic and former Soviet Union. He holds a BSc (Hons) Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College and a MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Cape Town University.
Peter is a geologist with over 20 years experience in gold and copper exploration, resource evaluation and reserve development in South East Asia, Central Asia and North America. He has played a key role in the discovery and development of two gold mines in Indonesia, including Avocet’s North Lanut mine. He joined the Group as Chief Geologist in May 2002 following 12 years with Newmont Mining Corporation.
Hans-Arne joined Avocet in June 2009 following the acquisition of Wega Mining. Previously he was Acting CEO of Wega Mining and held several positions within the company from 2007. Mr. L’orange has a strong background in executive and financial management with a number of European-based public and private companies. As a mergers & acquisitions and capital market specialist, he has managed and been involved in more than 20 financings or M&A transactions. He joined Wega Mining from Vyke Communications Plc, where he served as CEO. Prior to that position, Mr. L’orange was CEO of Birdstep Technologies, Inc.
Brett joined Avocet in November 2009 following a six month consulting assignment with the Company. A human resources and operations executive, with previous experience at operational and head office level. Most recently, he has held a variety of senior human resources and operational roles for Katanga Mining, Group 4 Securicor and Kinross Gold and Co-Steel Inc.
Jim joined Avocet in November 2008 and was appointed Company Secretary in January 2009. He is a Chartered Accountant and was previously employed by Anglo American plc where he held a number of roles within the Anglo Industrial Minerals division, notably Finance Manager.
Alistair is a geologist with over 23 years experience including more than 18 years working in Indonesia. Formally employed by Archipelago Resources PLC, he has worked at the Toka Tindung gold project in North Sulawesi. Prior to that he worked on the feasibility study for Austindo’s Cibaliung gold mine in Java, Straits Resources’ projects in Kalimantan and Java, Aurora Gold’s Mt Muro project on two occasions including the feasibility study, and Newmont’s gold projects in North Sulawesi. In October 2007, he joined Avocet as the Resource Development Manager at North Lanut and was then promoted to General Manager in October 2008 and President Director in December 2008.
Colin is a Mining Engineer with over 30 years worldwide production experience in the industry in base metals and gold, both underground and open pit, with exposure in central and west Africa, east and western Europe, Russia, and the United States. He was previously Director General Far East Operations with Kinross Gold in Russia, and Vice President Operations with Golden Star Resources in Ghana. Colin holds the Dip.CSM (1st Class) of the Camborne School of Mines, is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), and is registered as an Incorporated Engineer (I.Eng) with the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom.
Dean is a mining engineer with over 23 years experience, including more than eleven years working in Indonesia. Formerly employed by Aurora Gold Ltd of Australia, he was seconded to several gold projects in Indonesia including the Mt Muro gold and silver project in Central Kalimantan and the Toka Tindung project in North Sulawesi. In June 2005 he joined Avocet as General Manager at North Lanut, becoming Indonesian Country Manager shortly thereafter. In 2008 he became General Manager of the Technical Services Group, establishing this new business group at Avocet’s regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, before taking up a position at the Penjom Gold Mine in Malaysia as General Manager. |
